The field of finance is changing rapidly, largely in response to regulations designed to protect market practitioners and to prevent financial crises. FINCAD has long believed that deep market knowledge, transparency and trustworthiness play a critical role in making financial markets safe for all participants.

For these reasons, FINCAD established the annual FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship. Financial Support

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must belong to one of the countries mentioned above.

Call for Applications: Swedish Institute Study Scholarships Programme 2016

The Embassy of Sweden, through the Swedish Institute (SI), is calling for applications to the SI Study Scholarships programme targeting students from over 100 countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients  for master studies in Sweden.

The overall aim of the programme is to contribute to the reduction of poverty by capacity building of individuals. The aim is to contribute to a mutual exchange of knowledge and networks for global talents by focusing on areas in which Sweden is at the forefront of academic research. This will enable youngprofessionals to play an active role in society, to build sustainable networks and to work actively for sustainable growth and development.

The new procedure is aiming at making the application process more time and resource efficient and to be more transparent towards applicants in their chances of being awarded a scholarship.

The programme is divided into three different categories of countries and approximately 300 scholarships will be granted in total 100 scholarship for each category.

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) invites applications for its graduate scholarship (MS and PhD) in agriculture and related fields for Academic Year 2016-2017.
Eligibility:

HIV Research Trust Scholarships 2016 for Health Professionals in Developing Countries

Applications are open for HIV Research Trust Scholarships 2016 to provide financial support to physicians, nurses, scientists and other health care professionals in resource-limited settings from low-income and lower-middle-income c ountries working in the field of HIV infection. The Trust supports early/mid career researchers.

Priority Areas

All aspects of research related to HIV infection and its consequences are eligible including clinical care, basic and applied biology, epidemiology, psychological, ethical, economic, educational and societal aspects.

Award Information

• The scholarships provide support for travel, living expenses including accommodation, and may provide support for laboratory expenses at the institution to be visited.
• The preference is for applicants to receive training in recognised centres in other resource-poor countries but travel to other areas is not excluded.
• The usual period of support is 2-6 months but exceptionally support for one year may be given.
• The maximum sum awarded is £8,000 or equivalent value.

Grant for Young Professional Development Program for MA and PhD Graduates

Human capital is the biggest asset of each and every think tank. In securing reliable and high-quality researchers, think tanks compete with much more powerful competitors—i.e., governments, state agencies, private companies, banks, and consulting companies. The region’s think tanks, therefore, have to devise special motivation strategies to retain existing staff, and attract new talented individuals to opt for this career. Despite being present in public life, think tanks constitute a small part of civil society and are often not the first choice for fresh graduates who are interested in embarking on research/policy careers.

With this initiative, the Open Society Think Tank Fund aims at supporting up to 15 fresh graduates per year from high-quality universities in the OECD countries who want to return to their country and assume posts in think tanks interested in attracting young staff. With these activities, we hope to help young and talented people enter the region’s think tanks; provide additional capacity building with talented returnees getting engaged in policy-relevant research, analysis, and advocacy under the guidance of experienced staff; and assist think tanks in recruiting new talent into their ranks.

The Think Tank Young Professional Development Program intends to attract recent graduates of MA and PhD programs in the social sciences and humanities to select think tanks in Central and Eastern Europe, South Eastern Europe, and the former Soviet Union, giving them an opportunity to gain firsthand policy research and advocacy experience at a renowned think tank in the region. The program is designed to benefit both young returning professionals and their host organizations. It enables participating think tanks to recruit young researchers originally from the region who recently graduated from universities in the OECD countries, including the Central European University in Hungary. Depending on a research topic, individual programs at hosting organizations will last up to six months and start from November 2015.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible candidates must fulfill ALL of the following four requirements:

• have graduated in the past three years with a PhD, LLM, or MA degree in the social sciences and humanities from universities in the OECD countries
• be a citizen or permanent resident of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, or Ukraine
• be between 23 and 35 years of age at the time of application
• be fluent in written and spoken English and the working language of the host organization

Purpose and Priorities

After the selection process, the Think Tank Fund expects accepted young professionals to assume a full-time position in one of the region’s think tanks (preferably in their home country) for a period of up to six months. These individuals will reside in the hosting organization’s country for the entire duration of the program, work full-time at the hosting think tank’s offices, and become a part of the organization (this commitment resembles a full-time paid internship). Throughout this period, the young professionals are expected to engage in ongoing policy research projects and develop concrete policy products in agreement with the hosting organization. The policy product(s) can be one or more of the following:

• a full research or baseline study (young researchers are expected to formulate clear tangible outcomes at the end of the study/survey)
• policy papers, briefs, or newsletters
• an organized event or conference (young researchers should contribute to thematic development of an event organized within the program term)
• any other policy-related product or activity that benefits both the individual and the hosting organization (e.g., designing and hosting policy blogs)

Given that the young professionals would be part of the think tank for an extended period, we would expect them to be engaged in more than one project and, if feasible, in preparation of several policy products.

Their work will be guided by senior policy staff or the hosting think tank director who will be considered the mentor. Mentors should be ready to invest significant time and effort in the mentoring and communication process with the young professional. The Think Tank Fund would encourage both the young professional and the hosting organization to use these six months to fundraise for other funds and, if possible, make the position permanent. All young professionals engaged in this program should produce the outputs stipulated in the position’s description. A fully successful engagement of young returning professionals would ideally result in retaining the person on staff. Upon completion of the six months, the Think Tank Fund expects a final report from both the young professional and the hosting think tank.

The Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences

Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) is accepting applications for Higher Secondary Scholarship program 2014. The major aim of the scholarship program is to assist partner countries achieve sustainable development. ICDF focuses on education as it being the crucial mechanism fortraining workforces in developing countries.

The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate, graduate and PhD level students. Scholars receive a full scholarship, including return airfare, housing, tuition and credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance.

Newcastle University International Postgraduate Scholarship (NUIPS)

The Newcastle University International Postgraduate Scholarship (NUIPS) awards are available for international students starting their studies in September 2014, in the 2014-15 academic year. Each scholarship will have a value of £1,500 per year, payable towards tuition fees.
EligibilityYou could be eligible to apply for a NUIPS award if you:

• have been offered a place on any postgraduate taught degree programme
• have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes
• hold a first-class honours degree and IELTS 7.0. and you are applying for a degree programme within the faculties of HaSS (Humanities & Social Sciences) and MedSci (Medical Sciences)
• hold a first-class honours degree or a higher second-class honours degree and IELTS 6.5. and you are applying for a degree programme within the faculty of SAgE (Science, Agriculture and Engineering)

(Applicants who do not hold a first-class or upper-second-class honours degree at the time of their scholarship application will be considered for NUIPS awards conditional upon their final results).

• intend to register to start your studies during the 2014-15 academic year

(Continuing students are not eligible to apply; applicants must be starting a new degree programme in 2014-15).

Jacobs Foundation Call for the Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize Nominations 2014

Jacobs Foundation is inviting nominations from leading institutions and experts in research on children and youth worldwide to nominate candidates for the Klaus J. Jacobs Research Prize 2014. The major goal of the Prize is to award outstanding scientific contributions of individuals from all disciplines aiming at the improvement of young people’s development and perspectives worldwide.

The prize amount is of 1 Mio. Swiss Francs among which 90% goes to research project and 10% goes to travel, networking, and dissemination.

Eligibility :

• Scholars from all countries who have achieved major breakthroughs in understanding child and youth development and at the same time have the potential to advance the field by actively conducting research can be nominated by institution/individual.
• Self-nomination is not accepted.

Complete nomination includes a completed nomination form, 1-2 page appraisal of the academic accomplishment, full list of publications, information regarding possible future academic plans, fields of interest, and aspirations of the nominee, and curriculum vitae.
