We are looking for pioneering enterprises and programmes demonstrating achievement in any of the following areas:

• Increasing energy access for homes or businesses: Increasing energy access to those that have limited or no access by providing renewable energy products or services.
• Sustainable buildings: Improving energy use in urban buildings, including residential, commercial and public buildings.
• Developing innovative financial mechanisms or business models for delivering sustainable energy: Organisations providing innovative financial mechanisms or using innovative business to expand access to sustainable energy products or services.
• Sustainable travel: Innovative enterprises or programmes that are improving access to sustainable travel, encouraging the use of more sustainable modes of travel or using technology to enable more efficient fuel use.
• Improving the lives of women and girls through sustainable energy:Enterprises or programmes that are providing sustainable energy to women and girls as beneficiaries and creating employment or income-generating activities, or involving them in the supply chain. We are also interested in work benefiting refugees and internally displaced women and girls.
• Sustainable energy and water: Enterprises or programmes using sustainable energy technologies to deliver increased access to safe and affordable drinking water; or water for agricultural production; or adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene.
• Powering business: Enterprises or programmes which provide or use clean energy or energy efficiency in the provision of goods and services through business activities, for example in the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors.

Applications Open for ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention, Inc.’s Academic Scholarship!

At ABC Wildlife, we believe diversity is critical in every scientific field from biology to chemical engineering. While women represent 48% of the American workforce, they make up only 13% of engineering professionals and a mere 7.2% in the field of mechanical engineering. Overall, women are critically underrepresented in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

As a woman-owned corporation operating in a largely male field, we understand the remarkable impact women can have when allowed to break through. We want to pave the way for other women pursuing their dreams in the scientific world, which is why ABC Wildlife is introducing a scholarship designed to increase the number of women studying and influencing the future of science, including technology, engineering and math.

Essay Prompt: Why are you passionate about science, technology, engineering, or math, and how will your pursuit of these fields help preserve biodiversity, improve the health of our planet, or alleviate human suffering?

To apply: Please send your essay response in 1000 words or fewer to grants@abcwildlife.com. The subject line of your submission must include “Women in STEM Scholarship.” You do not need to be a United States citizen to apply. This scholarship is open to persons who identify as female. Graduate and undergraduate students enrolling or continuing in STEM fields of study at accredited universities in the 2016-17 academic year are welcome to apply by the June 26 deadline. 

One (1) award of $1,000 will be granted to the top essay submitted, and up to nine other students may receive awards for their submissions. Funds may be used for tuition, academic projects, medical expenses, housing, living expenses, transportation, or other education-related costs. In addition to your essay, please send proof of enrollment and one letter to serve as an academic reference.

This scholarship was created by Urban Wildlife Manager Rebecca Fyffe, an entrepreneur who is unique in her industry as a female business owner, as only 3% of pest control & management firms are owned by women. Fyffe credits her business acumen and cutting edge research-based methods to her STEM background and wishes for more women to have the opportunity to engage STEM programs and science-based education.

Eligibility:

To apply for the scholarship, applicant must be a student currently enrolled at a college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in the United States.

• Applicants must be studying or planning to study the fields of science (excluding social sciences i.e. economics), engineering, mathematics, or technology.
• If the applicant or the applicant’s parent/legal guardian is employed by ABC Wildlife, Inc. at the time of award, the student is not eligible for the scholarship. Eligibility of finalists will be verified before winners are selected.
• Applicant must include “Women in STEM Scholarship” in the subject line of the submission email. (submission to be sent to grants@abcwildlife.com)

Description of Scholarship Funds

The selected first-prize winner will receive a one-time $1000 educational scholarship. Funds are provided by ABC Wildlife, Inc. Payments issued by ABC Wildlife, Inc. are made payable to the student. Additional prizes, up to nine (9), may be issued at the discretion of ABC Wildlife, Inc.

Selection and Announcement of Winners

Winners will be selected by the ABC Wildlife team after the deadline of 6/26/2016. Applicants are judged on quality and thoughtfulness of entries. The winners will be announced on or before 7/1/2016.

College/University Approval

The institution must be accredited and listed on the official website of the U.S. Department of Education. All school transfers are subject to accreditation approval.

Clara Lionel Foundation: Applications Open for Global Scholarship Program

Eligibility

Applicants to the Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program must be:

• a citizen or native of Brazil, Barbados, Cuba, Haiti, Grenada, Guyana, or Jamaica.
  *Applicants must have been born in one of these countries.  If selected as a finalist, you will need to provide a copy of your birth certificate. 
• eligible to study in the United States and been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university located in the United States.
*As part of your application, you will need to upload a copy of your acceptance letter.  
• a first time college student (with fewer than 12 college credits unless those credits were earned in high school) planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2016-2017 academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 USD.  Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) each semester.

Awards are for undergraduate study only and may be used only for tuition expenses.

Selection of Finalists

Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship Management Services. In no instance does any officer or employee of Clara Lionel Foundation play a part in the selection of finalists.  Once finalists are selected, a selection committee at Clara Lionel Foundation will determine recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship Management Services processes scholarship payments on behalf of Clara Lionel Foundation. Payment is made on September 1 in United States currency and mailed directly to the recipient's educational institution in the United States.  Recipients must be eligible to receive funding per the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Obligations

Recipients have no obligation to Clara Lionel Foundation. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship Management Services of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information, and to send a complete official transcript when requested.

Revisions

Clara Lionel Foundation reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.

World of Children Award 2016

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Nominees must have full knowledge that they are being nominated. We strongly recommend that the person you are nominating and the related organization assist you in completing the nomination form.

Nominees must be available to participate in the Annual Awards Ceremonies held in New York City, USA, on October 27, 2016 if he or she is selected as an Honoree. Travel and accommodations will be arranged and paid for by World of Children Award.

Nominees must be nominated for one Award only. Individuals submitted for multiple categories will be disqualified.

Nominees must have an existing nonprofit, not-for-profit, NGO, or charity organization in good standing. The organization must be able to receive grant funds if Awarded.

Nominee must be the founder, co-founder, or visionary leader responsible for the organization’s success and growth. Volunteers and paid staff, including the organization’s executive director, are not qualified for an Award.

Only one individual from an organization can be nominated. If multiple individuals are nominated from the same organization, World of Children Award retains the right to select which Nomination Form/application to review, solely at its discretion.

Nominee’s organization must be entirely focused on helping children, especially vulnerable children.Organizations serving a substantial number of adults, while wonderful in their own right, do not align with this mission and may be disqualified.

Nominees must do this work over and above their normal employment. Alternatively, the Nominee must work for little or no pay.

World of Children Award excludes any work designed to specifically advance any one religion or political position. The Board of Governors of World of Children Award reserves the right to exclude Nominations it deems to be religious or political in nature.

The organization of individuals nominated for the Education, Health, Humanitarian, or Protection Awards must have been registered as a nonprofit, not-for-profit, NGO, or charity organization for a minimum of 10 years.Nominees with organizations having less than a 10-year history will be disqualified. (See exception pertaining to the Youth Award below)

FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship for 2016

The field of finance is changing rapidly, largely in response to regulations designed to protect market practitioners and to prevent financial crises. FINCAD has long believed that deep market knowledge, transparency and trustworthiness play a critical role in making financial markets safe for all participants.

In addition, FINCAD is keenly aware that the majority of practitioners in the capital markets industry are men, and that the trend to include more women in the industry is not as rapid as it should be.

For these reasons, FINCAD established the annual FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship. The goal is to encourage and support outstanding women in the field of finance, particularly relating to the use of derivatives in capital markets and/or financial risk management, and give them an opportunity to cultivate their skills and knowledge.

The FINCAD Women in Finance Scholarship is an award of US$10,000 to support graduate-level studies.

Are you an entrepreneurial student? Are you recent graduate and have a business idea to work on? If yes, then apply for the Accenture Leaders of Tomorrow Award.

The Accenture Leaders of Tomorrow Award aims to identify, foster and recognise leadership potential and innovative thinking amongst aspiring entrepreneurs in Ireland, with the aim of making Ireland’s Future.

Entrants take part in a number of development days on the themes of leadership, digital innovation and entrepreneurship. Guest speakers and one-to-one mentoring will nurture participant’s idea and skills.

The Award is structured as a competition of three rounds where participants:

• Submit an idea or concept which will be developed through the competition into a viable business plan
• Explore the central topics of leadership, entrepreneurship and digital innovation
• Network with likeminded participants
• Identify and develop attributes in leadership, entrepreneurship and digital innovation through development days, which will include guest speakers and one-to-one mentoring

The Crawford Fund Derek Tribe Award: Open to Citizens of Developing Countries

The Crawford Fund Derek Tribe Award is made biennially to a citizen of a developing country in recognition of their distinguished contributions to the application of research in agriculture or natural resource management in a developing country or countries.

The Crawford Fund Derek Tribe Award was inaugurated in 2001 to mark the outstanding contributions of Emeritus Professor Derek Tribe AO OBE FTSE, Foundation Director of the Crawford Fund, to the promotion of international agricultural research.

The Crawford Fund encourages greater recognition of international agricultural research and development in agriculture, fisheries, forestry and natural resource management by Australians, and increased support by Australian governmental and non-governmental organizations for this research.

Graham Foundation - CARTER MANNY AWARD

The Graham Foundation announces a new application deadline for the Carter Manny Award, the foundation’s annual award for doctoral students working on dissertation topics in architecture. The annual application deadline is now November 15.Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in early spring of each year.

The recipients of the 2015 Carter Manny Award will be announced on October 6, 2015.

AWARD DESCRIPTION

Since the Carter Manny Award’s establishment in 1996, over $672,000 has been awarded in recognition of outstanding doctoral students whose work represents some of the most innovative and advanced scholarship on architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. The Carter Manny Award supports dissertation research and writing by promising scholars whose projects have architecture as their primary focus and have the potential to shape contemporary discourse in the field of architecture. Projects may be drawn from the various fields of inquiry supported by the Graham Foundation: architectural history, theory, and criticism; design; engineering; landscape architecture; urban planning; urban studies; visual arts; and other related fields. The award assists students enrolled in graduate programs in architecture, art history, the fine arts, humanities, and the social sciences working on architecture topics.

The Graham Foundation offers two Carter Manny Awards: a research award for a student at the research stage of the doctoral dissertation and a writing award for a student at the writing stage of the doctoral dissertation. The research award is acknowledged with up to $15,000 and the writing award is acknowledged with up to $20,000.

The Carter Manny Award applications are reviewed by a diverse panel of recognized scholars in the fields of inquiry represented by the award. Steven Lauritano (Yale University, Department of the History of Art) is the 2014 recipient of the research award for his dissertation Embedded Remnants in Modern Architecture: Karl Friedrich Schinkel and the Historiography of Remains. The Foundation offers this prestigious annual award in honor of Carter H. Manny and his long and distinguished service to the Graham Foundation. Manny has served the foundation since its inception in 1956, first as a Trustee, then as the Director from 1971, and since his retirement in 1993, as Director Emeritus.

Eligibility

Ph.D. students who are presently candidates for a doctoral degree are eligible to apply.

• Students must be nominated by their department to apply for the Carter Manny Award.
• A department may nominate up to two candidates: one for the research award and one for the writing award.
• At the time of application, students must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. except the dissertation and have had their dissertation proposals formally approved by their academic departments.
• A student may reapply for the Carter Manny Award if a previous application was not successful. Due to limited funds, a student who received a research award or a writing award is not eligible to apply for another Carter Manny Award in subsequent years.
• The award is open to students officially enrolled in schools in the U.S. and Canada, regardless of citizenship.

Work being undertaken in pursuit of an academic degree is not otherwise eligible for Graham Foundation support.

Tomorrow’s Peacebuilders Award

Tomorrow’s Peacebuilders are the global awards for local peacebuilding. Awarded annually, they offer international recognition for grassroots peace activists in conflict-affected countries worldwide. These are inspiring individuals who are building a better tomorrow for their communities, in the world’s most fragile and needy places.

Eligibility

These are global awards. There is no geographical restriction on applications. In order to be eligible to enter, you must:

• Undertake peacebuilding work – your organisation is either a peacebuilding organisation or has peacebuilding as a substantial element of your work.
• Be locally based – your organisation must be based in the country or communities where your work will be done. If your organisation operates in multiple countries, you are not eligible to enter. (Note cross-border projects are eligible.)
• Be an independent organisation, not an in-country or satellite organisation of an international NGO.
• Be working, or planning to work, in at least one of the following thematic areas: women-led peacebuilding; youth peacebuilding; environmental peacebuilding; inter-religious peacebuilding; arts and peacebuilding; or technology and peacebuilding.

For individuals, our priorities are to:

Forbes has described the awards as “Most important awards for outstanding young Nigerians”. Commonwealth Youth Awards Nominations

Nominations are open for the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work. These awards recognise inspiring young people whose development work has had a significant impact on people and communities in their country or region.

We are looking for young people aged 15 to 29 years, whose development work demonstrates the Commonwealth’s Plan of Action for Youth Empowerment, to:

• Promote youth participation in decision making
• Promote economic empowerment of young people
• Take action for equality between young women and young men
• Promote peaceful and democratic environment in which human rights flourish
• Provide quality education for all
• Improve access to information and communication technology
• Promote health, development and values through sport and culture
• Engage young people to protect the environment.

Criteria for nomination

Individuals are able to nominate themselves or can be nominated by someone who is able to vouch for the legitimacy of the nominee’s development work. The nominee must meet the following criteria:

• The nominee must have been engaged in their development work for more than 12 months either in a professional or voluntary capacity
• The nominee must be from a Commonwealth member country
• The development work must be ongoing and in a Commonwealth member country
• The nominee should not be older than 29 on 31 December 2016
• Nominees should give permission for their names to be put forward (if nominated by someone else).
• Award winners and finalists must agree to take part in publicity and activities generated by the Commonwealth.
• The development work can be within any number of areas, including agriculture, skills training, arts and culture, environment protection, education, health and well-being, human rights, information and communications technology, journalism and many more areas including sport, science and sustainability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who funds the awards?
The Commonwealth Youth Award for Excellence in Development Work is funded by the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) of the Commonwealth Secretariat.

How many awards are given each year?
Four finalists from each region are selected (16 overall). From these finalists, one from each region will be chosen to receive a Regional Commonwealth Award. An overall Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2016 will be decided from among the four regional award winners.

What will the winners receive?
Grants are awarded to advance the development work of finalists.

The sixteen regional finalists will receive a £1,000 grant, a trophy and a certificate. The four regional winners will receive an additional £2,000, a trophy, and a certificate. The overall Commonwealth award winner, or Commonwealth Young Person of the Year, will receive £5,000 in total, a trophy and a certificate. The 16 finalists will be invited to receive their awards at an official ceremony in London.

Who is eligible to be nominated for the award?
Nominees must be aged between 15 and 29 years (as of 31 December 2016), and come from a Commonwealth member country.
