The Swinburne University of Technology is inviting Research Scholarships from students undertaking a PhD or a Professional Doctorate with exceptional research potential to undertake a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) for the Chancellor’s Research Scholarship (CRS). The major purpose of the Chancellor’s Research Scholarship is to support PhD or Professional Doctorate Students conduct their research program with absolute concentration. Only candidates with exceptional research potential are awarded these research scholarships.
The Chancellor’s Research Scholarships Awards cover tuition fees and provide an annual stipend of $30,000, an Establishment Grant of up to $3,000 and up to $5000 for a 6 month overseas placement in a collaborating laboratory or organization nominated by Swinburne. This overseas placement is a condition of the award.
This is the first round research scholarship announcement for the year 2014, second round will be announced later. Above mentioned deadline applies to applicants from Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea), Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Somalia,Sudan, Burma, Fiji, Former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Syria and Zimbabwe. Deadline for applicants from other countries is 30 May 2014.
Eligibility :
- The applicant must be enrolled for less than two years in a PhD at the time of the deadline or must have applied for admissions in Swinburne University to apply for the Scholarships. New Students can use the same application form while current students should complete and submit the ‘Scholarship Application – Current Students Only’ form, attaching any additional information to be considered. Appropriate referee reports must be included.
- Applicants who apply for the first time in a round will also be eligible to apply in one more future round – every student can apply for maximum two (2) scholarship rounds.
Besides Chancellor’s Research Scholarships, Swinburne University offers the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship (VCIS), Australian Postgraduate Award (APA), Swinburne University Postgraduate Research Award (SUPRA), International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS), Tuition Fee Scholarship (TFS), and Research Training Scheme (RTS) for PhD or Professional Doctorate Candidate.
