Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam & UTS PhD Scholarship - INDIA

The Dr Kalam Doctoral scholarship is funded by the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) for Indian international students of exceptional research potential to undertake a Doctor of Philosophy at UTS. The scholarship is provided to assist with general living costs and tuition fees. The scholarship aims to foster and strengthen academic and cultural links between India and Australia.

Value and duration

One new candidate will be awarded the scholarship each year and may be held for up to three years for doctorate studies. The scholarship includes a tuition fee waiver and stipend of A$24,653 per annum.

Applicants must:

• be Indian international students; and
• have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours, or be regarded by UTS as having an equivalent level of attainment; and
• be undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) commencing in 2014 at UTS in the year of the scholarship (The scholarship is not available to applicants whose enrolment into a postgraduate research program has not been accepted by UTS); and
• be enrolled as a full-time student.

The scholarship is awarded in accordance with the eligibility requirements and on a competitive basis of:

• academic merit; and
• research and other relevant experience of the applicant; and
• publications record; and
• relevance of the proposed research to the UTS' research strengths; and
• motivation to succeed in field of studies as demonstrated in application
